TUESDAY - 16 Months in the mission!! Can you believe that!? I'm
2/3 of the way done. District meeting today was good as usual. Elder
Richardson is one of the funniest elders I have ever met hahaha. Reminds
me so much of Tdizzy back home. Same kind of person. We talked about
our purpose and applying it in our mission and applying it in everything
we do. We grabbed some lunch before heading over to the Grizzles to see
if we could teach them but we weren't able to get in with them. We then
headed to the Michoacana and again astounded all the people there
because we speak Spanish and we are white. We then had dinner with
Sister Johnston and had some amazing food AS USUAL! Peru is defiantly on
the list of places to go when I'm rich. We went down to Kilgore after
and visited a few people down there and then taught English classes with
the Garcia family and left them with a Book of Mormon to read in
English and in Spanish so that they could compare. Then we headed home.
WEDNESDAY - We finished studies and headed right down to Kilgore
and started knocking on some trailers and had little success. We taught a
guy named Adan and invited him to be baptized but I swear its still very
hard for most people to grasp the Restoration even if you teach it to
them like they are kids. That's why the Spirit is so important. We then
ran into some crazy old guy who invited us in and showed us his food
storage and told us about his plan of when there is no more
electricity or food in the stores and all this crazy end of
the world stuff. As crazy as he was he is right. There is a reason why
the prophets have told us to keep a food storage and that could very
well be it. We then went and dropped by Marlene to see how she was and
she and all her family were completely healed. Power of the Priesthood.
Its true. We then went to dinner with the Rossows and I tell you what we
have the best members ever. I love them! Brother Rossow is the funniest
person ever! We had lasagna and then went and visited Brother Alexander
before heading to the activity at the church where we taught all the
young men door contacting and about our missions and then heard from a
lot of the RM's in the wards here. We then enjoyed some food from the
places they served on their missions and then we went out and visited a
few people before coming home. We also taught Peter today too.
THURSDAY - We did the usual that we always do on Thursdays...
planned. I don't like it at all! But it has to happen. Fail to plan=plan
to fail. We got through it and then went out and knocked on some doors and
did some contacting at the Monterrey. We had dinner with a family we
haven't ever had dinner with so we drove like 10 miles in the wrong
direction and were late for dinner. Only had 20 minutes to scarf down
the food. But she is from Peru as well so it wasn't hard to scarf down
the amazing meal that was placed before us. I'm going to marry a
Hispanic (if I don't please know that I love you whoever you are)
anyway... we went to the church after and had a lesson with Brent and
Jordan was able to come with us. We taught and then ran to Charles (Bro
Sellers and I) and Andy and Elder Chappell went together. We read in
Mosiah 18 with Charles and by the time we got done we had to go back and
help the others cause their car had broken down. Not a very successful
night besides Charles and Brent.
FRIDAY - This is where it gets crazy. We were thinking about
Longview and how its the hardest area we have both been in. Its just
normal to hate Mormons here. We get slammed doors in our face all the
time. We know there are people prepared though so we just needed to
figure out how to talk to more people to find those prepared. So we
contacted 101 people today. How? Well we decided to make a flier and go
out and talk to everyone in parking lots. It was much more successful
than it would be to knock doors. We first when to Brookshires and
contacted about 60 people and then we went and visited the Smith family
and they let us right in and said their daughter wants to be baptized.
So we taught the Restoration and walked out. Wow... I wish it was always
that easy. We had no dinner instead we just worked through it. We met
Andy at the church and headed to the Pittmans (who we gave a blessing to
the last week) They are completely better as well! We pronounced a
blessing on the home and shared a scripture with them and left. We had
someone at English classes tonight! SUCCESS! We taught a family English.
It was hard! But it was so fun!
SATURDAY - We had studies and we were supposed to have lunch with
the Aguilar family but they didnt even call us back or anything! So we
went and got some pizza to eat real quick and go to work. We knocked
on some doors before heading to the church to meet up with hno flores and
then we went to the lesson with Marlene and were super bold with her. So
bold that we got the interview set up and baptism set up for one week
from today. It was powerful and then we went back to hno Flores' house
to have a meeting but saw some smoke on the way and of course us being
boys wanted to check it out. It was some car that just was burning up in
flames! So crazy, we took some pics and then went to the Flores' home
for dinner and a meeting and some good laughs. He is so great! Love this
ward and branch. We then went down to Kilgore to have a lesson with
Josh and Chip. We read a scripture and then went back putting some
pamphlets and stuff in laundry mats and also we stopped by the Ramirezes
house and then headed home.
SUNDAY - AWESOME SUNDAY! We woke up and called President and got
permission to have the baptism this following Saturday and he asked a
bunch of questions and then he said do it. So we were super happy and
then we get a text from her saying she doesn't want to do it anymore. I
call her up and get on her case and tell her of the blessings she will
lose then after I call Hermano Plascencia and tell him to go over there
and invite her to church. So we pull up for church and there she is.
With Hno Plascencia! Candi and her both stayed for all 3 hours. We were
so happy heading to English ward. We got there and Charles came and
Brent came and Charles stayed all 3 hours and stayed for the dinner
after in the gym. SO AWESOME! We were happy, Sister Smiths daughter and
her came as well so we were happy about that. We went to Super 1 foods
after and contacted 60 more people and then went to the Millers for a
lesson with sister Miller. We then went to some random old investigators
house and she happened to be sick and was about to call us for a
blessing which was incredible that we actually stopped by. We gave her a
blessing and headed to do numbers. What a great week! Thanks for
following!
Love,
Elder Aaron Jackson
