President Devin Durrant

Not a lot this week going on in the life of the MTC, except today is a very special treat for me
ALL the general authorities of the church are speaking to us tonight and i get to talk to my new
Mission President, President Durant who is the 3rd leading scorer in BYU basketball history?
anyway its not kevin durant but its durant alright. Im super excited to meet him and ask questions
about what we will be doing in about 24 days! can you believe that! im leaving for the field very very
soon, im coming up on the 6 week mark of my mission, which is believe it or not, 1/16 of my mission.
CRAZY, Going to the temple and playing soccer and just learning more and  more about the Lord is
something i can not express. Its amazing. The language is difficult as we go into adverb clauses and
subjunctive and all that fun stuff, but i think im finally getting it, the native game just ended and we
continue to speak spanish day to day!!! Not a lot to report this week i apologize but i love you all
so much and i hope all of you are safe in all that you do. I will hopefully have more to report next week.
I love you all and hope to get letters soon.
Mucho amor

One month in the MTC!

The last two weeks have been great, busy but amazing. As we waved good bye to
the Hermanas (sisters) in our district as they left for the Guatemala MTC we knew with
now only 8 elders in the class that we needed to make some changes to the cluttered class
room. So me and my companion searched the entire building in search for nice chairs and
for desks we could swap out cause our desks were HORRIBLE. We found the perfect amount
in a class upstairs and decided that night, without telling anyone, we would begin our secret
transfer operation. We didn't tell anyone, but we did tell them to pray for new desks and we would get
them. That night when everyone went back to the dorms we stayed back, saying we forgot something
they bought it. We moved ALL the desks in the room in about 10 minutes, it was crazy. The next day
everyone wondered who it was, couldnt of been me and my companion cause it was so fast, we convinced them our prayers had been answered. Also this week we started our Native game. No english for an entire week!!! we drew names out of a hat each one was blank except one that had an N on it for "native" who ever gets the most votes, due to how well they speak the language, gets a new tie!!!! Our Spanish is progressing so much!!! its insane, but still some mix ups, for instance my companion in our closing prayer tried to say "please bless the lords servants" Instead said "please bless the Lords napkins" we were in tears of laughter after, as we headed to lunch we were using the napkins in such ways to make fun of it hahahaha. So much fun. My last BIG thing of the week, in gym i struggle to enjoy myself for no one will give me the ball, no one trusts that im good at the sport, everyone and i mean everyone thinks only of themselves, no team work involved. Yesterday i was getting really frustrated with my team cause i did not touch the ball, No one had seen what i can REALLY do with a ball in my hands. Finally as gym was about to end and about 25 people stood at the door watching our game come to an end, i finally got
the ball and drove with everything i had and dunked over a 6 foot 5 BYU football player OVER him, not the side. over. Everyones mouths dropped, people screamed.... im pretty sure i might get the ball more often now. I love it here, i love my companion and i love my amazing district. My teachers Hermano Gillon and Hermano Reading are great teachers and help us in every way they can. I can talk in spanish and teach in spanish pretty well. I wouldnt trade what i am doing now for ANYTHING! Cant wait to get to dallas in 4 weeks. Everyone please write! i would love to hear from anyone, my address is on facebook. I have a lot more to tell but only a small amount of time to type so i only put the best :) Thanks for following and thanks for your support

4 weeks at the MTC!

Can you believe I'm almost halfway done with the MTC!!! Crazy how time flies. Should be getting my flight plans in about 3 weeks. I'm so excited. I also am amazed how good my immune system is, EVERYONE has gotten sick over the food, stress, they even made an announcement over the intercom that a deadly virus was going around and I'm doing so great, no colds, upset stomachs...nothing. Check out the new pics!

Also, have one of the kids text Randi and say I'll be sending a card, and to expect it a few days after her birthday. I hope she goes to church, no greater gift than the spirit. Anyway, I'm completely comfortable with my district now, as if I'm with the Foo's! This is an amazing opportunity, not a single one of my prayers doesn't start with thanking God for the opportunity to do this. It's only been what, 22 days? Can't imagine what the field has in store for me, almost halfway done here at the MTC! Can you believe it? It's flying by so fast. It's hard work, tomorrow is P-Day! So excited. We also start a game tomorrow where we only speak Spanish for an entire week! It's going to be nuts! I miss you all so much, though its getting better each day but at least one moment a day I think of seeing you all again, and how awesome it's going to be.

I love you so much and i hope its not to much of a trouble to get these things :) THANKS SO MUCH!!! also i will be sending
home a box of stuff i dont need and something for austin. Thanks again

So Far...So Good

Dear Dad
Things are great here at the MTC, i had to only speak Spanish the other day and it
was awesome to see how far i have come in the language, amazing! and i can
almost understand everything my teacher says every day (Cause about 95 percent of the
time they only speak spanish) so its really sinking in, my teacher, who is fluent, said that we
know more spanish then him when he left the MTC and we are only in week 2, im excited to
get my package today, see what goodies you sent. Im dating all my letters as well, if you talk
to grandma on sunday let her know im sending a letter and it should be there monday or tuesday
Sleeping habbits are going really well, 16 hour days are begining to seem like 1 hour days,
i talked to bridger today haha crazy to see friends here, also paul Nieman. Hope to get my card back
soon, also happy you invited randi to church she loves being around the family and she is just an
awesome girl to have around, my love goes out to her ;) this is all going on my blog i assume?
Ill be sure and take lots of pictures when i get my card back, i told my companion and roommates that
you guys asked me too, also i have something for austin that i will be sending soon! he is going to love it, i challenge you dad to get to the temple! do some sealings, i just got back and it is an amazing feeling. I hope to be able to go to the temple with you and Austin when i get back, the Salt Lake, so make that a goal of yours and his to prepare yourself for that, cause thats the kind of Father son night i want to have when i come home. The showers are terrible here if you wanted to know, either too hot or too cold!!! I SHAVE EVERY DAY JUST SO YOU KNOW!!! HINT HINT. A BYU ruggby player just arrived in our new district thats part of our branch HUGE!!! Its crazy to see all the different people from all over the world come here, like my buddy elder Beatty is from Arizona and Is going to Dallas (me and him have a lot in common) also my roommate. And a guy from texas in our district is going to arizona haha so its pretty awesome, and we will be a boys only district this coming tuesday as the sisters will leave for the MTC in Guatamala :( They were really good at bringing the spirit, cant believe we have almost been here for 3 weeks!!!! time going by slow there??? its kind of both slow and fast here, hard to explain, well my time is almost up and i have to go do laundry now haha great "day off" right?:D well i love you so much, write to you soon, love
Elder Jackson

Mom-
Gracias for inviting Randi to church! if she could only feel what i feel on a day to day basis.
I miss you guys and thanks for putting money in my account, i know im being pushy but
its cause i didnt know that it actually takes more than just a day for a letter to get to you
but now i know and i am so greatful to have you guys sending me stuff! THANK YOU SO
MUCH!!! :) i got a ton of mail today 6-2-11. so im happy about that, also does this go on
my blog? if so I LOVE YA RANDI! ;) i promised a shout out for her, the spirit is so strong
you have no idea, i had a bad tooth ache yesterday and was scared i might have to leave
to get it fixed but its been really good lately, I just got back from the temple and did
sealings for the dead, i loved it so much, to think of all those kids in India that werent sealed
to their parents and how i was able to seal 20 children for ETERNITY! I love you all, life is
getting easier and im loving the work, because im getting lost in it, my companion is great,
such a funny guy i love being around him, we went the entire day a few days ago only speaking spanish it was great! im starting to be able to understand almost everything someone says!!!! i love it, its so great i dont know if you got my question about a backpack? cause yeah i might need a bigger carry on or something keep inviting Randi to church, she loves being with the family, it helps her a lot!
